is right for me?
The starting point is a conversation about what you want help with, your medical history, and the treatments you already use. You do not need to choose a technique before calling. At Yao’s Acupuncture, your preferences and comfort help shape the plan.
Acupuncture uses fine needles at selected points. Scalp, spinal, and auricular approaches focus on particular areas or point systems. Complementary techniques offer different experiences: the warmth of moxa, hands-on massage, suction from cupping, or the press-stroking technique of gua sha. Ear seeds provide an option that does not pierce the skin.
Can treatments be combined?
More than one approach may be discussed when appropriate. Combining techniques is an individual decision based on your goals, skin sensitivity, medications, and other health considerations. The plan should be explained before treatment, with an opportunity to ask questions and give consent.
What should I tell my practitioner?
Mention pregnancy, blood-thinning medications, skin problems, allergies, reduced sensation, and implanted medical devices. Let us know if you are uncomfortable with needles, heat, pressure, or smoke. These details help guide technique selection and adjustments.
